SOMETHING ABOUT ME,
My name is Kelly Bergers. From a young age, I have been fascinated by the Sint-Pietersberg and the marl caves of Maastricht.
As a guide at Maastricht Underground, I take visitors into the history of Maastricht's underground world. However, my love for Maastricht, the Sint-Pietersberg, and the unique heritage of our region goes beyond just history; I want to experience it now as well.
I find it special to see how this centuries-old material can be transformed into a personal work of art.
Mergelbewerken Maastricht was led with great passion by Annemie Bergers for many years. When she retired, I was given the opportunity to continue her work. As her second cousin, I am proud to preserve this family tradition and give it a new future at a beautiful new location.
SOMETHING ABOUT THE MISSION,
For me, working with marl is not just about being creative, but also about experiencing a piece of Maastricht history.
By letting people work with marl themselves, I hope to let them experience the same wonder that I have felt since childhood for this unique material and the place where it comes from.
At the same time, I proudly carry on the tradition of marl working, so that this special craft can continue to inspire people in the future.
